Pune: Godrej Enterprises Group (GEG), under its flagship CSR initiative Disha, has inaugurated a Home Appliances Repair and Maintenance Lab in Pune in collaboration with Queen Mary’s Technical Institute (QMTI).
The program is designed to skill and empower specially-abled soldiers from the Army, Navy, Air Force, and Paramilitary Forces, enabling them to build sustainable civilian livelihoods.
Godrej Enterprises Group Initiative to Train Over 200 Specially-Abled Soldiers
The newly launched training centre will provide hands-on learning opportunities for more than 200 war-wounded and specially-abled soldiers over the next three years.

Participants will be trained and certified as Home Appliances Repair and Maintenance Technicians, with the initiative also offering placement support and three months of post-training mentorship to ensure smooth career transitions.
Partnership Between Godrej Enterprises Group and QMTI
At the inauguration, Harpreet Kaur, CHRO, Godrej Enterprises Group, emphasized the importance of the program in bridging the skills gap: “This initiative empowers our specially-abled soldiers, opening avenues for livelihoods and economic independence. By combining specialized technical training with hands-on experience, we are equipping them to build sustainable careers in high-demand sectors. Our partnership with QMTI reflects Godrej’s commitment to building an inclusive society and supporting those who have served our nation.”
Col Dr Vasant Ballewar, Dean of QMTI, added: “The programme fosters economic empowerment, restores dignity, and promotes inclusive growth. With this partnership, our brave soldiers can look forward to a dignified and independent future.”

Disha CSR Initiative: Godrej Enterprises Group’s Commitment to Skilling India
This project forms part of Disha, Godrej Enterprises Group’s flagship CSR program launched in 2011. Disha has expanded across 18 Indian states and impacted more than 200,000 youth through industry-focused training and employability programs.
In FY 2024-25 alone, 9,046 candidates were trained, surpassing the target of 8,400, with 45% securing employment opportunities.
Through the new Pune lab, Godrej Enterprises Group reaffirms its commitment to empowering India’s youth and specially-abled soldiers with technical skills for sustainable livelihoods.
